A Norwegian runestone was recently found in a grave field excavation in the municipality of Hole, near Tyrifjorden (Tyri Lake) west of Oslo.
It has an inscription that, according to researchers, dates back to before 2000 BC. The runes are carved on a 31x32 cm block of reddish-brown Ringerike sandstone.
The inscription consists of 8 runes and has been translated as "Idiberug". That is, researchers believe that this is the name of a woman or a city.
